Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    * This forum is for the discussion of Long Term Illnesses and the issues related to these subjects.

    * This forum is not a source of medical advice. It's a place for asking questions like "I have condition y, anyone else share this?", NOT "I have condition x, what should I do?". Posts like this will be deleted.

    *
    We as a forum are happy to help with research projects etc. whenever it's appropriate.

    However, please note this important rule:

    ONLY MODERATORS MAY POST LINK TO SURVEYS.

    This shows the users that we've checked it out, and are cool with it.

    So, if you've a link to a survey you'd like to submit to the forum, please PM the link to one of the moderators (listed at the bottom on the forum main page). We can then post the link for you, and ensure it gets seen.


    Any surveys not posted by a moderator will be removed, and the poster banned for 6 months.



    * While relevant events may be publicised via this forum- they must be cleared in advance with the forum moderators- who will suggest an appropriate location/manner of posting the event details. If a moderator decides it is inappropriate to publicise an event (for whatever reason), it is the perogative of the poster to dispute this decision via the Helpdesk. Argumentative posts or PMs to moderators will result in an automatic forum ban.


    * If the topic of your thread relates to a specific question, please title the thread with the name of that condition. Otherwise, please put "General" in the tread title. For example:
    "Diabetes: Software for recording blood test results" or
    "General: Disclosing a condition to an employer"
    This helps posters find the threads they need quickly.

    * Discussion of Alternative therapies is encouraged, but please post personal testimonies ONLY. Any attempt to sell or promote medications, or to persuade anyone else to try them, will be regarded as medical advice, and the post will be deleted

    * Personal abuse, racism, flaming, trolling etc. will not be tolerated here and will result in an instant ban.

    * Spam will not be tolerated.

    * Text Speak is also frowned upon, please make an effort to avoid it.

    * Continuously taking discussions off topic posting will not be tolerated.

    * Any suggestions for improvements to the charter or the forum as a whole are welcome, feel free to PM the mods (list at bottom of this forum) with any ideas you may have.

    * Enjoy the forum, hopefully it will be a useful resource.

    amendment:

    hi folks, after mod discussion we are making the following amendment to the charter:

    please do not post looking for recommendations of specific doctors/other practitioners/clinics.

    we are happy for people to continue posting about their experiences in clinics etc, but beyond that we cant allow recommendations.
