Any Idea what the Sporting Emporium is like tonite.

    31st July: €50 + €5 mini satellite for August 4th €200 game

I wouldnt mind paying in the August 4th game so playing a satelite might be an idea.

Any idea what the prize structure is for this?

can't decide on fitz €75 or SE €100 tonight... meh think i'll go with SE.

Does anyone know when Lukes opening up his casino?

Well Niall I blinded into the money.... :p 6th for €220

P.S. On a related note I want to ask what is it with this tournie.?

There are other regular games in the SE that cost ~100 but the field is no where near as tough.

Last night from the final two tables stage there wasn't a whole lot of dead money and it was tough work getting to the FT (now there was still a few chips to be had alright but it was a lot harder to get through then a Wednesday night say). Game selection rules are going to have to kick in here for me.... ;p .

I usually manage to get a full nights sleep it seems.

I'd say it is a safe bet that the prize structure consists of multiple prizes of €220, but I have never played this. It may be prizes with some money used as tickets, but I doubt it.

They've stopped using those pieces of crap and are back to the green and pink ones (the new stock, not the old stock). I still don't know of any logical reason for using those crappy ones.

Rumor (unsubstantiated gossip) has it that certain patrons were building up personal collections of large denomination chips trickled off in small buy in tournaments that were being brought into play in more valuable tournaments.

That never made much sense to me, as they were still using them in large buy in tournies anyhow. I know that was the official reason, but they were using the same chips for years earlier as well. I have no doubt that there was some element of chip grabbage at play, but the chips were never secure enough out of play to stop this anyhow.

more evening starts (6pm 7pm)... i know the 9pm start i smeant to cater to those who finish at 5, but lets say a club picks a thursday to have a 7pm start (50+5) game, with a decent structure, and then a 9pm (27+3) game with a quicker structure. people can make thurs "poker night" and if they bust early in decent structure game, they can play the 9pm game too (which will allow late entries for an hour!!) so people can have a full nights entertainment for less than 100 and get some kip in after!! the 27+3 that the fitz runs on a sunday never lasts more than 4 (max 5) hours. i reckon first club to adopt my dual tournament idea.. from here on in refered to as "DitPoker Dual Tournament Theory (2007)"... will be the most successful dublin casino ever ever ever...

Most sensible thing you've said all week/month??! :p
Seriously though, id love to play an early evening tourney midweek 6-7pm start would be perfect.

mission accomplished, well done! what will you spend the money on?:p

I agree it was very tough work, but an enjoyable game. Not the best game of the week for grinding out a living tho... Maybe we just got unlucky with our tables??

It took hours to go from 24 to 18. I busted in 13th or 14th. I had nearly twice the average for a while until I lost a few and everyone caught up. A horrible dry spell of cards hit at the same time and I ended up with 17k with average at 24k. Made a raise with AK and got it in against 33 which stood up.... and then busted out with 34o.

Anyone here planning to play the new Omaha only game in the Fitz tomorrow night? I think I'll give it a go unless something comes up in the meantime.

I don't like the fact that there are 2 rebuys, I alredy voiced my opinion that it should only be one rebuy or even a DC game, but there you have it. It is 40+10+5 (10 scalp) and 2 rebuys for 50. I think it is 2k/3k/4k (with 400 bonus). Not sure about clock, but will update after playing. Hopefully it will get 4 tables or so.

Im 80% approved for hall pass on Saturday to the SE, can anyone confirm if advertised 6.00pm start is realistic?

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,846 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

The SE on saturday will start at 6.30, as the place only opens at 6pm. It usually starts pretty much on the dot of 6.30. I'd like to play but I probably won't be able to as I am going to the double header in croker that day.

I shall be heading in.... kinda wish it was on wednesady(today) instead, since denise doesn't work, which means i wouldn't slag her off within 2 minutes of walking into the place, and ultimatly last only 2 levels if i'm lucky...

I must try to compliment her (it might bring me good luck) - just theres nothing to compliment her about!!!!!;) :D

Where did you read that 30something?

It's always been a 6pm reg and a 6.30pm start. Ring the SE to confirm but the one thing I will say for the lads in there is that they always start the game at the time they say it will start (I'm never on time these days  but I always ring in advance to confirm my seat and arrive during the first level if you don't do this and arrive late you could run into trouble depending on the tournie being played).

You were asking about a regular tournie in the SE before as well I seem to recall and asking would it start at 8.30pm, Registration is from 8.30 pm and the games start at 9.00pm except on Sundays when they start at 7.30pm.

And there the Hellmuth similarity ends...;)

You going in tonight to the scalps game? Considering being the value by attending this.
