To be fair, an Aygo would seem great compared to a 1l Polo. They're horrible, tinny, flaccid yokes; and I say that from experience. The Avensis is ok and certainly not a turd, but it's nothing to write home about either.

Just thought I would come back and update you all. 95% decided that we are going to go with the Kia Sportage. Leaving the 5% for the Kia Optima which is a really lovely car with a nice spec inside.
Thanks for all your help on this and to the poster who flagged the optima to me initially.
