Since the Introduction of 2 Intermediate grades in Cork I reckon the standard of Junior has dropped. While it's easy to argue that the board should restructure the championships and bring back only 1 Intermediate grade I reckon clubs would oppose that move now. Maybe introducing Junior teams into an all county league with Intermediate and senior teams would help the Junior teams become more competitive? There's no doubting Kerry teams are the cream of the crop in Munster but Cork teams should not be getting hammerings in this grade like what happened yesterday.

In fairness i think the problem here is (as per usual) that our junior reps always end up meeting the Kerry champions early on. Looking at the record books over the last few years I think it's safe to say that standard of junior football in Kerry is the highest anywhere in the country. My wife is from Meath so i've gone to a few junior games up there and in Dublin over the last 2 years and the standard is abysmal compared to Cork. I think the standard of the junior grade in Cork is perfectly acceptable when compared to any other county nationwide, with the exception of our western neighbours.

Even taking that into account, I'm convinced Kanturk would have won the All-Ireland last year if they hadn't been forced to play Dromid 2 days after winning the county.

interview in todays paper with County Board man pretty much confirming they'll miss the Christmas market with new jerseys. usual waffle about being in talks with numerous companies. I'd imagine they are struggling to get someoe in the current climate. not cheap running a dual county

Does Sunday's Munster junior hurling final look like a cakewalk for Kildorrery?
As a Limerickman i will travel across the border to support St.Kierans. saw them playing twice this year. an honest team but looks like this will be a step too far for them. Hoping for a good game anyway, the weather may be a bit of a leveller at this time of year.
Also Limerick's Cappamore play Kenmare in the football final. Looks like Kenmare are an excellent side and easily disposed of a tough Rockchapel side in the semi. Maybe they should really be competing in the intermediate championship.

Every year, the 'makeup' of Kerrys grades is a topic for discussion - funny that.

Kildorrey are a very good team yet they can count themselves a bit lucky to be in a Munster final because in truth Brian Dillons should have put them away the both days in the drawn and replayed Cork county finals. Kildorrey though showed toughness and resilience both days to emerge County winners.

They had a cakewalk of a victory over Waterford opposition in the Munster semi but the reality is the standard of junior hurling in Waterford is very poor. They go into Sunday's final hot favourites. I'll go the game myself as I work with the St Kierans goalie. A great achievement for St Kierans to get to a Munster hurling final from the West Limerick division considering football is the main game in the division. Kildorrey should win IMO but it's all on the day and I'm sure St Kierans will give it their all.

Hoping for a good close game anyway. as a supporter of all Limerick Gaa over the years i would just love to see Johnny Mac walk off the field as a winner on a big match day. have great admiration for this guy since i first saw him play.
Always gives 110% in a Limerick shirt without any fuss. Major success has just barely eluded him so many times.(through no fault of his i may add)

Well done to Kildorrey today on winning the Munster Junior hurling championship final defeating Limerick side St Kierans 1-11 to 0-12.

However I'd say St Kierans will be kicking themselves tonight, they missed a glorious chance of winning a Munster title against a below par Kildorrey. They dominated possession for large parts of this game but their failure to convert a couple of goal chances in the 1st half and good point scoring chances in the 2nd half proved costly in the end.

As for Kildorrey they will be relieved tonight to have won today but they know a major improvement will be needed to beat the Kilkenny opponents in the All Ireland semi final.

Ya, bang on. titanic effort from Kierans. freetaker Nolan was a huge loss when he went off injured. was actually injured a minute before he blazed just over with only the keeper to beat. just couldnt find his balance to shoot properly. was'nt on the pitch then when Kierans got their penalty which went over for a point.
The battles in the Kierans full back line between the 2 McCarthy brothers and Kelly/O'Brien were worth the admission fee alone. total committment all round without a dirty stroke.
Hard luck on an honest Kierans team and best of luck to Kildorrery now.
Hope they walk up the steps in Croker next February. Sound bunch of players/supporters.

RTE messed up big time on the Sports Awards - according to the official Cork GAA twitter, "Archdeacon Michael O'Brien is alive and well contrary to RTE Sports Awards tonight.."

Had a look - Wiki page saying that he passed away on July 22, but it was a different Michael O Brien - the Michael O Brien mentioned in the Wiki page never served in Carrigaline

They also made a mess as Katie Taylor received the overall award, went to an ad break as she spoke.:o

Yeah, the Michael O Brien they saw as being dead was not the Michael O Brien involved with the Cork teams, he served in Carrigaline during his ministry, the other Michael O brien had not

They made a total disaster of Katie Taylors acceptance of her award, cutting to ad breaks every 2seconds. Disgraceful.

Any truth to the rumour that there's discord in the Cork setup?

Now I stress that this is just a rumour, but a friend of mine living in Cork was talking to his friends down there, and the story doing the rounds is that JBM and Cunningham aren't seeing eye to eye.

Again its just a rumour, its probably nothing, just wondering if anyone else has heard the same rumour, or should I dismiss it as pointless gossip.

Yes,there's a minor disagreement between JBM and Cunningham about the future of Donal Og i've been told by a reliable source. This story is doing the rounds with a month or so.
