    Welcome to the Surfing Forum!

Please abide by the following basic rules:

    No trolling
That means don't set out to get a rise out of other users.

No shilling, spamming or commercial posting
Commercial entities must pay if they want to advertise here (go here or contact the mods). Shilling is when someone recommends a product/service without revealing that they have a commercial interest in doing so. It will not be tolerated. If you are a private individual making a one-off sale, that is ok - please post such ads here.

No personal abuse, insults, slander, flaming, racism, threats etc
Don't abuse other forum users, in any form. Extreme cases will be referred to the admins, who may take further action. Remember you are not as anonymous on the internet as you might think.

    Try to be nice
If someone is wrong (even if they are really really wrong) there's no need to be nasty when correcting them. Maintaining a friendly tone creates fewer headaches for everyone.

    No back-seat moderation
If you have a gripe with what someone says, don't reply to it on-thread. Hit the report post button report.gif to get the fastest response from the mods. If you don't get a response after a while, wait another while (we do other things besides be on boards.ie, including surfing, believe it or not). Similarly, if you don't agree with a moderator's decision or any aspect of this charter, PM the mod instead of posting about it. If that doesn't settle it, take it to the Help Desk.

A breach of these rules may result in a warning, temporary ban or permanent ban, at the discretion of the moderators. This charter is subject to change. Terms and conditions apply, blah blah blah.

We welcome surfers at all levels of experience, and especially want to ensure that the forum is a friendly and informative place for anyone who is new to surfing. Please remember that it is also a community - if you get something out of it, try to give something back. If you are a beginner, it might be a good idea to familiarise yourself with some safety and etiquette guidelines - there are some good suggestions here.

From the mod team, welcome, and enjoy the forum :)
