Singles sites aren't really a disaster - plenty of fish is good, I've got chatting to some lovely people on there!

Yeah there's a few idiots, but you just don't reply to them.
There's a few idiots in the bars and pubs too though remember!

It's the 21st century, that is like saying I want to buy a car but i'm not using Donedeal or any of those sites.
You're cutting a huge chunk out of your chances of meeting someone.

If you live in Cork City, then meet up is probably an option for you. How about you go to a couple of meets and focus on making a couple of new friends to go out with. Opportunities to meet women will present themselves once you have a couple of mates to go out with. And try POF and Tinder, I know several couples who met on both sites.

Definitely check it out, I met my current gf of 6months on POF, getting on great!
Not saying you won't come across a few crazies but it's worth it.

Hi I'm in a similar situation, recently out of an 8 year relationship...still slightly heartbroken (my choice to split, mourning over what we had years ago) and looking to start again...Not a relationship but a new circle of friends, Lost most of mine through neglect on my behalf and the rest are living abroad/married etc..I want to meet friends with the view to get back on the dating scene..i can hardly rock up to a bar alone ! any advice?

I hear you about the friends being settled and it gets harder to meet people. I also hear you re not wanting to join a dating website.
Sorry I have no solution but just wanted to say you are not alone, lots of people in their 30's finding same as you.
What's meant to be and all that!

Go to www.meetup.com and check out groups in Cork. If you find one you like it's a good way to meet people for friendship. There's no pressure and it's a good way to start socialising and make new friends. Anything else is a bonus!
