Hi all,

    Iarnród Éireann are expecting a significant number of soccer supporters to travel by train to Dublin for the Ireland V Georgia World Cup Qualifier on Wednesday the 11th of February.

    To accommodate Soccer supporters travelling to and from Dublin to see Ireland V Georgia in Croke Park on Wednesday the 11th of January, Iarnród Éireann have provided an additional service after the match for Cork and Limerick customers.

    Supporters have the flexibility to travel outward on any available train and return on an additional train service to Cork or and Limerick at 23.00.

    Area 14 Re-opens on Monday, 9 March

    Dublin Airport’s Check-in Area 14 will re-open from Monday, 9 March, following a recent upgrade to passenger facilities.

    New bag, tag and drop machines have been installed to enhance the customer experience at Dublin Airport.

    All Aer Lingus flights to destinations in France, Germany and the UK will now use this check-in area located on the lower ground floor of the main terminal building.

    Change To Approach Road For Terminal Building

    As part of the T2 works a new road layout on the approach to the Terminal at Dublin Airport will be implemented from today, 3 March.

    The new road runs parallel and just North of the original approach road and the pedestrian route to the Terminal will mirror this layout.

    Signage will be in place to direct traffic to the Terminal, Exits and Short Term Car Park.
    Dublin Airport would like to apologise to its customers for any inconvenience caused during this construction project.

    DART/Commuter

    Avoid traffic congestion before and after the match, by travelling by DART and Commuter services.

    Iarnród Éireann is offering a special €10 return train only or €25 return train and admission ticket for customers booking online to attend the 2009 Irish Open at Baltray from Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th May.     Bus Éireann Offers €5 Day Return Fare to Galway City during Volvo Ocean Race

    People in Galway and surrounding areas can travel to Galway city for the Volvo Ocean Race Stopover for just €5 return thanks to a special offer from Bus Éireann.

    The €5 day return fare from Bus Éireann will run from May 23rd 2009 to June 6th 2009 inclusive and will enable people to travel to Galway city for this exciting event on 16 routes at a great value price and without having to worry about finding and paying for parking or dealing with traffic delays.

    With hourly services operating to Galway city from towns such as Athlone, Ballinasloe, Loughrea, and Gort, visitors to the Volvo Ocean Race Stopover will have a great choice of Bus Éireann services.

    In addition, to facilitate the later events at the Race Village, Bus Éireann will offer late night departures from Galway city to various destinations as part of the €5 special fare.

    Bus Éireann will offer the special €5 day return fare to Galway during the Volvo Ocean Race Stopover on the following routes:

    Late night services:

    Bus Éireann will provide a late night service to Loughrea, Ballinasloe and Athlone every night of the festival departing Galway Bus Station at midnight.

    An 11pm service to Spiddal, Maam Cross, Headford, Tuam, Gort, Monivea and Kinvara will operate on the following dates from Galway Bus Station – Saturday May 23rd, Thursday May 28th, Friday May 29th, Saturday May 30th, Sunday May 31st, Monday 1st June, Thursday June 4th, and Friday June 5th.

    There will also be a midnight service to Spiddal, Maam Cross, Headford, Tuam, Gort, Monivea and Kinvara from Galway Bus Station on Sunday May 24th.

    ALL ABOARD FOR THE VOLVO OCEAN RACE!

    Iarnród Éireann Announces Additional Services and Special Fares for the Volvo Ocean Race stop over in Galway City.

    As Galway City prepares for an influx of visitors to enjoy the spectacle of the Volvo Ocean Race and the festivity surrounding the event, Iarnród Éireann has announced that it will increase its services to and from Galway for the duration of the festival from the 23rd of May to the 6th of June.

    An additional Friday service will operate from Heuston Station on 22nd and 29th May and 5th June at 13.55hrs arriving at Galway at 16.20hrs. Capacity on other services to Galway will be increased over the period of the Galway stopover.

    Iarnród Éireann also plans to supplement its services between Athlone and Galway with late evening services returning to Athenry, Attymon, Woodlawn, Ballinasloe and Athlone.

    On top of the additional services a special €10 adult day return or €5 child day return fare will be available to Galway from Athlone, Ballinasloe, Woodlawn, Attymon and Athenry booking offices only for the duration of the stopover.

    These services will allow visitors from the Midlands and the eastern part of Co. Galway to attend many of the displays, events and concerts and return home after the event. This option should prove to be very popular and allow visitors to avoid any traffic delays by parking at one of the above stations.

    *Additional car parking for the duration of the festival will be made available at the following locations:

    Athenry Station: Additional car parking will be available in the proximity of the existing station Car Park

    Ballinasloe Station: Additional parking will be available at Ballinasloe Mart, with direct access to the station platform from the mart

    Athlone Station: Additional parking will be available in Zone B of the Athlone town centre

    Ceannt Station in Galway is within five minutes of the Volvo Race Village making travelling by train the easiest way to access the many events surrounding the race.

    Travel Advice for Leinster Fans Travelling From Dublin Airport

    Dublin Airport will be busy tomorrow with an additional 20 charter flights heading to Edinburgh for the Heineken Cup Final.

    The DAA has this advice for those travelling:

    • Plan to arrive at the terminal building at least 90 minutes BEFORE your flight departure time.

    • Passengers who have checked-in on line should plan to arrive at the terminal building between 90 and 60 minutes BEFORE your flight departure time.

    • Prepare for the security screening process by removing outer jackets, belts, place phones and loose change into jackets or hand luggage, sharp items must be packed into checked-in luggage, and comply with EU regulations regarding liquids, details of which can be found on www.dublinairport.com


    Dublin Airport will have customer care teams on duty over the course of the weekend. Dressed in bright pink polo shirts, they are on hand to assist passengers through the terminal building.

    19.20hrs Galway to Athlone (arrives Athlone 20.22hrs) will connect with the 17.55 train from Westport to Dublin at Athlone, departing Athlone on this evening at 20.33hrs, instead of the usual Athlone departure time of 19.55.

    Park n Ride Facilities for GAA Matches at Croke Park

    Bus Éireann Kicks-off Park n Ride Facilities for All-Ireland Championship Matches at Croke Park

    Bus Éireann is to make it easier for fans to get to and from GAA All-Ireland Football and Hurling Championship games at Croke Park this summer by operating Park ‘N’ Ride facilities in Swords and Naas before and after the big matches.

    The Bus Éireann Park n Ride facilities in Swords and Naas open on Sunday, June 7th 2009 for the Meath v Dublin Leinster Football Senior Championship Quarter Final and the Dublin v Antrim Leinster Hurling Senior Championship Quarter Final.

    Fans will be able to leave their cars at Fingallians GAA in Swords and avoid the hassle of driving into and parking in the city centre by availing of the Bus Éireann shuttle.

    Services will start departing Fingallians one hour before the first match and the drop-off/pick-up location is Mountjoy Square. Pick-up will be one hour after the conclusion of the Senior match.

    Adult return fare is €7, a child return fare is €5 and a family return (two adults, three children)* is €14.

    Bus Éireann will also be operating a Park n Ride facility to All-Ireland Championship football and hurling fixtures in Croke Park from Naas GAA from June 7th 2009. Services will depart from the club 90 minutes before the first match with pick-up from Mountyjoy Square one hour after the finish of the Senior game. Adult return fare is €9. Family return is €18 (two adults, three children)* and child return fare is €7.

    * For a limited time only, children go free on a family return ticket.

    A special service will depart Cork at 08:25hrs on Saturday morning calling at Mallow, Limerick Junction (with a connection from Limerick), Thurles and Heuston.
