Independent BMW Dealer - Emmissions Light

The emissions light has come on on a '01 318se and Maxwell Motors have quoted my €180 ph to plug the computer in and before they even touch the car. Does anyone know of someone that would have the computer and could have a look at it for me. I'm living in Wicklow but travel to Dublin everyday so anywhere in between. Also does anyone know if I'm doing any damage still driving with it on. The car seems a bit sluggish but don't know if thats just a coincidience. I only have the car about 3 months.
    Thanks.

Alan Carroll (AC Cars) is a well-respected Dublin BMW specialist. Don't have his number to hand, but i'm sure a quick Google search would throw it up.

Cheers Anan1. Found him on the net so I'll give him a bell.

    Thanks Again.

Just spoke with him, nice chap. He got all tech with me, straight over my head, but he said it's not a major problem. Some air yolk or something. Said he'd fit me in in the morning so seems problem solved.
    Cheers again.

Was it the Mass Air Flow meter? Sounds familiar.

AC are very good anyway, I was just in there last week getting a part replaced and they have some excellent "Autologic" diagnostic equipment which can be used to do all sorts of stuff.

Something like that I think. He seems to know what he's talking about so I'll try him out. Was no way I was paying €180 ph to Maxwell before they even touch the car.

I've been using them for 2 years or so now, as have a good few others here.

+1. I used them for my last full service (first full service for me since I bought my 320 and the car's first non-BMW service ever). I've found them to be good value, reliable and honest, a rare trinity these days!

Deadly. It's good to get the feedback about them. Don't really know a whole lot about under the hood of cars so if I can take it to someone that knows what their doing and their honest about it then thats good enough for me.
