Above all have factsheets on these topics geared toward the public. Feed Your Child Well by Therese Dunne is also good.

The Nutrition and Metabolism Series By Mike Gibney and The Manual of Dietetic Practice published by Wiley Blackwell are more science heavy.

Can anyone recommend any nutrition books that would help with an assignment on the nutritional needs of specific groups (infant, toddler, school child, elderly, pregnant woman, vegetarian, vegan, athlete) along with general scientific nutritional info
The China Study is a book by T. Colin Campbell, Jacob Gould Schurman Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University, and his son Thomas M. Campbell II, a physician. It was first published in the United States in January 2005 and had sold over one million copies as of October 2013, making it one of America's best-selling books about nutrition.[2]

The China Study examines the relationship between the consumption of animal products (including dairy) and chronic illnesses such as coronary heart disease, diabetes, breast cancer, prostate cancer and bowel cancer.[3] The authors conclude that people who eat a whole-food, plant-based/vegan diet—avoiding all animal products, including beef, pork, poultry, fish, eggs, cheese and milk, and reducing their intake of processed foods and refined carbohydrates—will escape, reduce or reverse the development of numerous diseases.

    or try The Starch Solution
Now, bestselling author John A. McDougall, MD, and his kitchen-savvy wife, Mary, prove that a starch-rich diet can actually help you lose weight, prevent a variety of ills, and even cure common diseases. The Starch Solution is based on a simple swap: By fueling your body primarily with carbohydrates rather than proteins and fats, you’ll feel satisfied, boost energy, and look and feel your best.
The Starch Solution is a groundbreaking program that will help you shed pounds, improve your health, save money, and change your life.

John A. McDougall, MD, has coauthored many bestselling books with his wife, Mary, and is featured in the documentary and book Forks Over Knives. At the McDougall Live-In Program in Santa Rosa, California, he cares for patients and teaches medical doctors and students to avoid drugs and surgery by using food to cure common diseases.

Not every body would agree but well worth a read
