Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.
Thanks all.

Can someone identify this please?

    Hi Fanadman,

It looks like a water beetle to me possibly with its young on its back.
Saw one before at home. I would guess that they are the biggest beetles on this island.

    HI Brendan

Thanks for that - everyone was hoping it was a mummy beetle being a taxi for the babies :D The pic was highly zoomed so it was difficult to identify the beetle......well, to my eyes anyway lol

    Thanks again

Not a water beetle but a Dung or Dor beetle of the genus Geotrupes.

the passengers are mites, afaik not parasitic but hitchhikers.
