Hi all,

To be fair, that's the same Pat Kenny who suggested yesterday that ESB would be able to provide much faster connections than Eircom because ESB's copper wires going into each house are much bigger than Eircom's copper wires...

    Not surprising:
He thinks the ESB/Vodafone joint venture will be pointless 'duplication'.
He would say that as it's serious competition.
    Surprising:
He supports the merger of O2 and Three
Actually why would he be against take over (not a merger) of an fairly competent operator by an almost incompetent operator that needs to dramatically increase data prices to make a profit? So not surprising. The "competition" issue as I wrote many times before is almost irrelevant to the main issues the Regulator should consider.

I'm surprised he's showing his hand at this stage. I would have thought it was worth objecting, at least until he was assured of getting some free/cheap spectrum. Maybe he's done a deal with them on the infrastructure already.
