Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    we are looking for a hole in wall gas fire. has anyone had experience with Kal or Gazco and where best to buy?

    Paul Matt and Eric at www.thegascompany.ie in Capel St and Palmerstown are about the best in the country.I'm an insaller and regularly buy appliances for them nice guys and most importantly know what there talking about

    Do you know if the heat output is any good from these fires? Hearing mixed reports. We're planning to do the same. I presume by inset you mean it's enclosed by a glass front, like a stove. Much more efficient than an open fire.I posted the question under the Stoves thread but no answer yet.

    We have an open gas fire at the minute but it's not great for heat and the efficiency is only about 35%.

    Hi. We have a Gazco Studio 2 and wouldn't recommend it. The spark is steady giving us trouble and it is expensive to run when we do eventually get it started. If I were building again I'd definately install a solid fuel stove. It might take more effort but at least you can relay on it.
