How do you clean your face and do you clean it morning and evening? I'd recommend cleaning with an oil (yes, I said an oil!) as a lot of face washes etc are drying so the skin creates more oil to compensate for what's being stripped out. In the evening put a little oil on your face and massage it in to the area with the spots (it can be virgin coconut, olive oil or a specific cleansing oil such as superfacialist Una Brennan from boots for around €10. Remove it with a facecloth and Luke warm water. Then use clearasil pads over the areas with spots and put on a moisturiser. In the morning wash with a little oil and use moisturiser.

Avoid cleansing foams and scrubs as these will make your skin worse.

It may not be manly to wash and moisturise your face but you'll have to start if you want to get rid of your spots.

Stop using wipes. Most of them contain some form of an astringent which dries your skin awful!

    Hi Dave,

I recently found some great products that may seem a little expensive but have worked a dream for me. I will give you the details and you can do a little investigating and maybe it will lead you to the right place.
The produces are by Lancome and they are a cleansing fluid and a hydrating toner. You will also need some cotton pads.
You start by cleaning your pores with the cleansing fluid on a pad and after this is finished then apply the toner to close the pores and tone the skin.
If you go into any cosmetic counter which stocks these products the assistant will be able to talk you through it.

    Good luck.

Stop using tcp immediately, it's far too harsh and will strip your skin. Same for clearasil if you're in any way sensitive. Sudocrem is grand for calming the odd spot, but is too heavy to use long term. Have you any skincare routine at all?
