I present to you the promotional trailer for the 1999 reboot of the franchise that never happened. Subtitled "The Second Coming", it was intended as a continuation of the 1970's series (I'm not sure whether it ignored the mistake that was Galactica 1980). The concept starred Hatch as the new fleet commander (with a cameo by the original Commander Adama, Lorne Greene) as well as a few other familiar faces from the original series. Sadly, it never got picked up. That's a shame because it was around the time of Babylon 5 and the explosion of CGI use on television. It looked more mature and less kitschy than its previous incarnation and might have made for fine television.

Still cheesy as hell though IMO - glad we got Ron Moore's version instead :).

Sure would have been interesting to see where they could have gone with it.

From what I remember Hatch raised the financing and did this himself as a promo only, considering there wasn't even a single episode to draw from and that they had to script the it beginning to end as if there was makes it a wee bit more impressive imho.

Thank the Lords of Kobol that the series wasn't made.

Why? The re-boot is prob better than a series taking off from the 78 series but it might not have been a bad series. Its good that they gave Hatch a role on BSG . He seems to have spent decades recovering from the cancellation in 1979.
