Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

heat sensitive sprinkler fire alarms

    I have what I think is a heat sensitive sprinkler fire alarms at work.
    I was thinking of getting a George foreman or pannini maker but I'm afraid it may set it off and ruin all the stock.
    I have no other room I can go to.
    How sensitive are these things?

    Depends on the type, can you see a coloured glass bulb in them ?
    The colour of the glass bulb is the way to tell their set point in one type of them.

    They'd have to be at a fairly sensible heat. I wouldn't worry unless your a foot away.

    I think it would take 60-70 degrees at the bulb to set them off. As said previously your pretty safe with a George forman or similar once its a normal room with adequate ventilation etc the temperature shouldn't come anywhere near that.
