Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Licence out of date, need confirmation of test to receive a new one?

    Hi guys,

    My licence expired a couple of months ago, i sent all the necessary paperwork off to get the new one and it came back as my pictures were too dark (!!!) and i needed conformation i had failed the test in the past 2 years or confirmation i had booked a test for the future.

    I never did the test before (got my licence a long time before i started driving). So i booked the test thismorning, however, i did not receive a date for the test and the payment confirmation states it will not suffice as evidence for licence renewal.

    What can i do here?! I obviously need a licence in order to prepare for the test, but they havent given me a date!!!

    Renewing learner permits

    A learner permit can be renewed once. However, if you want to apply for a third or subsequent learner permit, you must either:

    Have undergone a driving test within the previous two years, or
    Provide medical evidence showing why you were unable to take a test, or
    Provide evidence that you have an appointment for a driving test prior to the new permit being issued
    Contact your local motor tax office for any queries in relation to learner permits.
