For anyone thay has actually bothered to check Man City's first team fixtures you will see that City's first team play Wolfsberg Away on August 4th, their next fixture is Chelsea on August 12th. No mention of a game v Limerick on August 5th, impossible to think they will play a first team on the Saturday night in Germany and all play again the following day. At least Cork City have promoted their game v Man Utd XI as such a game and not come out with claims of getting a full first team squad that won't materialise. http://www.mcfc.co.uk/fixtures/first-team

Since you posted this in two separate threads there is a reply in the other one.

    Good result tonight.

    Mervue 0-3 Limerick

    Brosnan, S.Tracey, Judge

    Wexford Youths 1-1 Longford

Limerick FC top of the leave on goal difference.

Great to see some of the sour bitters around town getting worked up over Limerick and Thomond Park hosting the EPA champions. :)

Great day all round for the club on and off the pitch. Onwards and upwards.

Bit like the other thread I don't think he has one - just on a moan.

Mancini doing a bit of advertising for us. This one is for the people who think Man City are paying no attention to the game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,001 ✭✭✭Jofspring

Man City say they have no clue who Limerick FC are and there isn't a hope of bringing a first team……….O wait no they didn't :D

    Got the win...

1-0 Dom "The Dominator" Foley with the goal

We were fairly poor though out the game tonight and may consider ourselves lucky to get the three points

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,001 ✭✭✭Jofspring

Ya we were poor and it was a great effort from SD Galway. Made a lot of changes to the line up which had a lot to do with it.

Longford loose 1 0 at home to the blahs - and finish game with 9 men.

    Went to game Friday.
Joe Gamble at right full was a strange choice. Is there no other cover ? He should have controlled the game the other night in the centre of midfield , where there was nothing happening.
Also bringing on O'Brien for a few minutes to be taken off again was daft. Anybody watching his warm up / fitness test could see he was struggling. At one point during his warmup he had to pull up and half way through warm up / fitness test it looked like he was being treated for cramp !!!

The new lad is a right full but was played left centre back so he could have gone in at right full.

It seemed like Scully was trying to experiment with the team, resting a few and trying lads in different positions but luckily we got away with the win.

We are now 3pts clear of Longford and 4 clear of Waterford with a big goal difference which counts as an extra point if we finish level with either of the two come seasons end.

Ya he was just inside the gate there. He must have thought he smelt blood ha. He was chatting to a few of the players.

Heard from a fairly reliable source, that before we appointed Scully we looked at Mahon but he'd absolutely no interest in leaving Dublin and apparently still has no interest in leaving Dublin...something to do with his business in Dublin

So do we think we shall get pomoted fingers and toes crossed champions league next 2 seasons here we come haha!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,001 ✭✭✭Jofspring

I think we will just about hold on. Our vastly superior goal difference may get us over the line. No reason with in the next two seasons we couldn't have european qualifiers in the Markets Field. Would be amazing to head up there on a Thursday night to play a european side.

Just noticed something as I was looking through extratime.ie...

And a quality of English teams playing other Irish sides

    Premier Sides
    Bray -v- Wolves(Championship)
    Cork -v- Watford(Championship)
Cork -v- Man Utd XI(Reserve Side)
    Shel's -v- Millwall(Championship)
    UCD -v- Stevenage(League 1)

    Then you look at use...

Playing Man City(Very Strong Team), the current champions of England and being held in 26,000 capacity stadium.

Think it shows how big the club can be, we could conceivable be Ireland's second team in Ireland this time next year.

Hopefully this is a sign for great thing's ahead

Shows big ambitions anyway. If we could get these frienlies consitantly it would be amazing.

I see mentioned on foot.ie that the outside walls of the Markets Field were being power hosed yesterday and have started being painted today.

Away game this Friday. Handy trip (1hr20mins) up to Athlone for anyone interested in heading up. We usually bring a decent crowd up as its a nice little ground.

    Athlone 0 - 1 Limerick.

    (Gaffney 86)

Sounds like we got out of jail a bit, leaving it so late again.

But with Waterford only drawing, we're 6 points clear of them. Longford won so they're still 3 points behind us.

Big, big, big game next weekend in Jackman against Longford.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,001 ✭✭✭Jofspring

Don't forget to get down to the biggest match of the weekend in Limerick, the whole city and county have been waiting a few weeks for it.......

Top of the table clash Limerick FC vs Longford Town, Friday 7:45pm Jackman Park.

We could open up a six point gap at the top o the table and also improve on the goal difference.

    Limerick FC 0-0 Longford Town

Despite the scoreline it was a very entertaining game. Just under 1,000 in attendance. Still 3 points clear at the top of the league so its not the worst result. We should have won it though with plenty of chances created. Longford defended excellently though.

We were the best side by a long way tonight don't know how we didn't win

Finished shamrock rovers 4-1 Limerick. Judgy with the goal for the superblues.

Upside is we can focus all our attention on the league now because it would be beyond belief if we dont do it this season

There is a lot to worry about after tonight's game...

We were shocking, there was no fight, organisation or anything that looked like a good side. We struggled against Salthill and Athlone too don't forget, only to be saved with 84 and 86 minute winners.

The super clown in goals(Barry Ryan) could make a number of mistakes to cost us the league. Also tonight our midfield was no where to be seen and Dom Foley looks like he doesn't give a ****.
