Devastated for the limerick minors. You can say what you like about Galway being the better team in extra time and all that but at the end of the day, if they had counted that score, Limerick would have won the match in normal time.
When Limerick were three points up, that one point could have meant that galway needed at least 2 scores to tie up the game.

Nobody can say that for definite. The whole context of a match is governed by what the score is at the time of the game. Attitudes of the teams differ as well. For example, if Galway were 1 point down, they would adopt a more attacking mindset than they did when they are level. Even referees adopt a different mindset depending on the scores; they are always more likely to give a free in to a team that is one point down rather than a team that is one point up.

So it is not just as simple as saying Limerick scored 1 more point and therefore would have won.

If a replay is granted and Limerick win, you can only imagine the murder that'll cause.

I think Limerick county board should have just left it, they had more than enough chances to win the game. I understand that there's plenty of young lads upset after all the work they've put in, but it's awful petty.

    http://gaabanter.ie/galway-minor-manager-mattie-murphy-does-not-want-limerick-replay/

For Galway to offer a replay is like an innocent person volunteering to go to jail before a trial. It's not sporting, it's madness. Just like a judge decides whether somebody goes to prison or not, so too is it Central Council's decision (just like Jimmy Cooney's mistake in 1998) to decide whether there is a replay or not.

I also think it's interesting that the Limerick minor manager has changed his mind. If he really thought his team had the beating of Galway, i think he would have said it at the time that he wanted the replay. Limerick had the benefit of a Limerick-dominated Croke Park cheering them on and they still lost.

Galway had 8 wides to Limerick's 13, they scored the last 4 points in extra time (which was effectively a replay) despite their ring-rustiness. Remember they only had one game against Laois before that. So I think Galway would beat them comprehensively the next time out.

Just like an innocent person with fortitude and tenacity would probably survive jail, he would be a fool to volunteer for it when he has done nothing wrong.

I also think if Limerick had won the Senior there would be alot less fuss over this.

I think we should give them a replay, a tainted medal is no good to anyone

There is nothing tainted about Galway's win.

And if they do win the All Ireland you can be sure that Hawk Eye will be a distant memory. None of the players will give a toss about anything that went before.

and sure we could do with the extra game.

We're getting an extra game. Its against Waterford on the 8th of September.

As a neutral (Meath), surely if a replay was granted to Limeick wouldn't Galway counter-appeal... The Ref played on an extra minute for no reason whatever and then gave an unreal soft free that everyone in the studio says was dubious.... but wait, their opinion doesn't matter > all that matters is the Refs... and he gave a wide for the 'point'!

As well as letting themselves down in the Senior in a manner that Mayo Footballers or Galway Hurlers would be proud of, Limerick have left it late but also now embarrassed themselves in the Minor! But I wouldn't be so sure they won't get the replay. Its against all odds, logic and justice but the Munster Council wagg this particular dirty dog! Watch this space...

Munster Council  Sorry your going to have to explain this one to me, because from where I'm sitting this has about as much to do with the Munster Council as it does with Fianna Fail!

If this was a senior match I would say let it go limerick there's next year! But I don't think in a minor match, players final bite at an all Ireland at underage level should be decided because of a technical error! To say it is similar to an umpire mistake is stupid! The Hawkeye showed the sliotar going over!

It wasnt decided by a technical error. It was decided by an extra-time period in which no technical error occurred.

More in line if someone asked the bauld Jerry exactly how much he has been getting paid a night to train these lads and where the money is coming from, as for him saying they will resume training Saturday, could he enlighten us what they were doing last night??

Please county board, let it drop. You are embarrassing us here! It all comes across as sour grapes. Galway deserved their win. Let it go, before we lose all dignity.

Yeah we're not getting a replay, let it go.

On a positive note though, this is a really talented group of players, no matter what the result was, I'd say we're up there with the top minor teams in the country. And how good is Cian Lynch?

    Seriously like, he's a fantastic hurler. I think he's only 16 too?

Yeah he's certainly changed his tune since Sunday and it sounds undignified. I mean, what in the **** has the leaving and the cao got to do with it? Traumatic? I hope he doesn't accidentally see the latest news from Syria for his sake.

That point he soloed was the score of the day (minor and senior). A great talent. And that's from a Galwegian.

Apparently the decision is... no replay. Not sure if that means we get the victory though :pac:
