Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Know of two houses burnt down by black and white TVs in the 60s. Both in the same area, fire brigade blamed the power supply in the area (absolutely terribly unreliable to this day) for spiking.

    Admittedly Gerry Wells, the owner of the museum keeps a BBC 625-405 standards converter in his bedroom. It occupies the space of two full equipment racks, about the same size as a free-standing double wardrobe.

    Maybe, but I've seen Channel 5 on a 1949 GEC 405 line set at the Vintage Wireless Museum in Dulwich.

    Was it sourced from a digibox :)

    Amusingly, there is still a group of in the UK in the throws of getting a Band1 tx up and running for 405 line tv.
    Currently waiting for ofcom to decide whatever. That is impressive and good luck to them. :=)

    Were still waiting.. Tho I saw theyre at a fairly advanced stage with the transmitter now and have an alternative solid state tx for testing. We wait for OFCOM so.
