Samsung Remote

I'm having problems with my samsung remote control, batteries went a while ago, everytime i put new batteries in the TV light at the top of the remote flashes and switches off the Tv. Pressed the reset button and but nothing is working, don't have the manual for the remote or tv anymore. anyone have any ideas?
