I just got an email to say that you can get C4, channel 5 and ITV on Sky digital now as follows:

    Channel 5
    Freq Polarity Symbol Rate FEC
    12304 H 27.5 2/3

    C4
    12168 V 27.5 2/3

    UTV
    10906 V 22.0 5/6

I'm in work so could someone try it out at home?

I would guess that TV3 would have serious objections to ITV1 or UTV being made available on digital satellite as they are pretty much ITV1 - Ireland thesedays with almost the same programme line up as UTV.

Channel 4, alongside its original productions, carries a lot of imported US programming, which is also carried on RTE 1 / 2

I would guess that there are some serious rights issues.

However, to say that NTL or Chorus don't "broadcast" ITV / C4 is a complete joke. I mean, does it just accidently appear on their EPGs through some freak accident?

What if Sky were to "relay" the channels on satellite i.e. pick up a ITV/Channel 4 signal at the Northern Ireland boarder and then uplink it to satellite available only in the republic and fully encrypted?

Can't see how that would be any different to what NTL/Chorus are doing!? It's just using slightly different technology. It's just distribution via a closed network.

I don't know about NTL, but I've seen Sky EPG appear on BBC1,2, ITV and C4 on chorus. So, I doubt they're actually relaying signals from over the border or wales, they're just relaying stuff directly off satellite.

I can get ITV3 using this. The rest don't work, tho. I'm based in Co. Kildare, Ireland, using the card sky sent out to me.

Everyone has ITV3. Its not blocked anywhere. As long as you have a sub that is.

ITV3 is free to air at present does not need a sub of any kind
