would the prices be any cheaper than here and would anybody be able to recommend a good shop

also any ideas on a decent acoustic for the 400-700 price range, maybe a baby taylor?

Go to the Soho Sound Shop (?). Theres a quality guitar shop in Soho and at the bottom of the Virgin mega store.

It's the Soho Sound House. Apparently the website isn't great but they have some quality deals :D

There's a rake of guitar shops around that area. On Denmark street and the streets near it. Get the tube to Tottenham court road. When you come out of the station there should be a corner to your right so go around that and walk down that street a bit. Have a look down the alleys on the far side of the street and there's a couple of shops there too. Soho Soundhouse is definitely worth a look in.

Actually now I think of it you could come out of the station on the far side of the road. When you turn the corner look for a huge "adult" store, and the London Astoria a few doors down from it to be sure you're on the right street.

Brother bought a Twinamp from this place, I feel I should recommend them because they only charged £10 sterling to ship it to Dublin (he couldn't take it with him as he was on the plane). Had to have been a mistake! They are also on soundcontrol.co.uk, don't know how competative the prices are, but he was very happy with the service (having been used to getting a [polite]lesser[/polite] standard from musicmaker).

    Sound Control (London)
    14-16 Oxford Street

This shop is HUGE though, you really can't miss it.

Anyway to the OP heres a map of where to go. You want to go to Charing Cross Road.
