    Hey,

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a Public Health Nurse in Letterkenny? And if so, could they point me in the right direction.

I got an infection last week and need regular re-dressing of the infected wound. I can't seem to get any info on anyone that can do it. I'm registered with a GP in the north of the county but I live in Letterkenny and can't travel there due to work and other commitments. None of the GPs I tried will take me as I'm not registered with them. Someone said I may be able to get in with a Public health nurse but I can't find any info for a letterkenny specific nurse online.

Any help would be much appreciated as I have to go to Dublin on friday afternoon and would really like to get seen to before then.

As far as I know, to get the services of the PHN you have to go through a GP.

ask in your local chemist they should know where you go ,,,,if you can get a letter from your doc in the north for phn they need to know what type of dressing you need ,,,,i had similar prob find it easier just to buy the dressing in chemist but my infection small so i can do it myself best of luck

I think you are right and services are usually only available to medical card holders.
Another example of how our health service can't deal with even the most simple routine jobs.
