Does anyone know what the story is with the brand new maternity ward in Wexford General, apparently it is closed despite the fact it is ready to go at any stage. People are still delivering babies in Prefabs at the back of the hospital, apparently expectant mothers pass the lovely new yet closed maternity ward to get to the prefabs.

What's the point in building it just to leave it closed?

was there not something in the papers about it being closed due to a lack of staff?

Didn't see anything about it tbh, but could have easily missed it too. Seems pretty dumb to build a new maternity ward that cant be opened because they don't have the staff, surely that would have been something to consider before the massive outlay of funding the construction.
