Have a quick question about a situation that came up while at play. a player was on yellows and ready to take his shot when another yellow that was near a pocket on the table dropped into the pocket. He didnt move it himself but he did continue on with the shot he was on.

What happens in this situation.. is it a foul that he played on without waiitng till the ball was replaced? World 8ball rules were being used.

A hanging ball that falls into a pocket "by itself" after being motionless for 5 seconds or longer shall be replaced as closely as possible to its position prior to falling, and play shall continue.

the ball would have to be replaced before he took his shot otherwise it would be a foul

first of all if he done that in purpose it's a foul but if it fell accidently and it's yellow and he plays yellow it's not foul and can carry on with game but if it's red and he plays yellow its a foul.
