MCS on Parnell St. is closed down. A phone number left for repairs though.

From the state of that place you'd have thought it had been closed for years.
PC sales thus repairs have gone through the floor

Monsoon on Cruise's street is closing. Nearly emptied of stock today. Sad to see it go, got some great bargains in there as it was the outlet store. Wish the staff all the best for the future.

Just spotted on the BBC that Maplin has collapsed. Another local business probably finished.

Agreed - I always thought their prices were silly...I can't recall ever buying anything there after comparing prices online and even other local shops.

Maplin was always the type of place that you went in to see what something was like and then bought it for half (or less) of the price online.

Surprised they lasted as long as they did.

Def are they charge double the price in Ireland for something that's only 1/2 the price in UK. & blame currency conversion then which is bull.

Was in there the other day. They were selling the Google Home (which is not supposed to be available in Ireland) for €189.95. The price in England is closer to €120 and they were reduced in January to £89.

When pc world irl did that as in way higher irish price I asked why was product over 100e dearer than in England. Usual **** was told. But amazingly same product was on sale following Wk @ the English price I asked about. So maplain might have saved themselves if they did ssomething like that but were too greedy.

I doubt selling a few extra Google Homes would have saved Maplin.
