Nearly worth it for parts/alloys. If I was near Galway I'd be taking a look anyways.

There's an enthusiast about who thought it was worth €800 :pac:

Nah, quite good. The 1.8 is a better driver but not a half bad car

x2 the 1.6 is underpowered, the older model 1.6 is much quicker than it.

........... the older model 1.6 is much quicker than it.

The original Primera was some yoke for a car released in 1990 :)

It was....I'd a 1995 one for 2 years and she had little or no problems other then wear and tear stuff.

I'd love one with the sr20de engine onboard but they are as rare as hens teeth, there was one on donedeal a while back for €5500  dreamer :P

Lovely sly dig there RJ, thanks for that. Unfortunately we can't all be perfect like you I'm afraid.

I thought it was worth €800 based on the ad and what I could see. I didn't view the car so it must have some serious problem if it can't be shifted for the money he was originally looking for it.

As per the add, cooling issue. Probably been cooked as I pointed out to you, that is the serious issue ;)

Why don't you just buy one of those then? Honestly - worst examples of bangeromics this week.
Look at the front of the Golf, then at the Astra lovely red paintwork.
    Those alloys attached to 520...
Everything about those cars is just wrong.

Whats the general opinion on these? I like them, slightly ugly, but who's perfect.!

Frest NCT & 3 months tax.
Full service & 4 new tyres.

Dunno if it was used as taxi.

Knock a couple of hundred off to get it inside the technical bangernomics zone.!

Sorry I'm not sure how to embed pics. The 2.0 and 1.9 diesels get a good rep but whats the skinny on the petrol versions?

What are those 1.6 primeras like? Is that model ****e, like the one that came after?

No, they are very reliable. A good motor. The 1.6 is no speed merchant but it returns good mpg. One thing to watch out for is corrosion underneath at the rear.

Ah missed that the ad has been up for that long sorry about that. Any major issues with the those 1.8's? I dunno if it is misguided but I would feel more comfortable looking at secondhand petrol motors compared to diesels.

Thirsty but reliable once maintained properly. Looking around mid 30s in mpg. Make sure the electrics are working properly. Facelifted ones (D9's) can give a bit of electrical bother in the form of the BSI, not a difficult task to fix.

The real person to ask is Row, he has had a lot more experience with them than I've had :)
