Anyone have any insight as to why Cody didn't give Tommy Walsh a run in the final? Surely he deserved that much. I know Cody doesn't do sentiment, but still !!!

    Clare fan.

Deserve has nothing to do with it.

If KK were 10 points up with 2 minutes to go, absolutely.

But the game was in the balance right to the end and you can never write off Tipperary.

Cody is the best manager of all time for a reason. He usually gets the decisions, big and small, spot on.

Wonder is he tempted to try another sport now!

You can't bring sentiment into it. Everyone has great respect for Tommy and would agree is a wonderful player. But Cody hasn't won ten AI for been nice to his players

He certainly brought sentiment into it when he brought on Shefflin the first day and it almost cost Kilkenny.I'd argue sentiment came into his mind when Shefflin started to 2010 final as well and it cost Kilkenny that day also.

One could say the same thing in relation to Brian Hogan.

Why is Tommy Walsh so out of contention anyway?, sorry if this obvious but the guy is only around 31 years of age and surely a bit of hurling in him yet.

His form has been poor this year. Had flashes of his old form but clearly not enough.

Cody bringing Shefflin on in both finals shows that he actually does do sentiment.

He didn't go on the night out with the team either if that clip doing the rounds is to be believed.:)

Knowing John Mulhall, that was not the reason Brian Cody kicked him off the team.

    It was for another incident.

There's another video on Hogan Stand of Tommy and the rest of the team on a session in Billy Byrnes where some fella in the pub does a trick of switching from a Tipperary jersey to a Kilkenny jersey.

No idea if the article is fully 100% just thought it was interesting in relation to a discussion of Cody's ruthlessness.

The article more or less says that the singing had nothing to do with it. The whole county knows the story. Surprised Dalton didn't make the 'ruthlessness' list. His incident against Dublin ended his career and forced a rethink of our future at full back.
