Just wondering if anyone on here is into woodwork and where they pickup supplies - Looking for recommendations based on price, selection and service.

    - Hoping to learn how to make front gates (driveway) and a set of decent Garage doors.

There are a lot of good places around Limerick. Just put together your list of materials and ring around, or e-mail, for availability, pricing, etc. Quality of service should be ok at most places.

Some of the main timber suppliers in Limerick:

    McMahon's - Dock Road
    Buckley's - Dock Road & Tipperary Road
    Brookes - Tipperary Toad
Chadwick's - Childers Road (near Punch's Cross, and beside Lidl)

Some of the more mainstream chains could be worth checking out also for various odds and ends, e.g:

Atlantic Homecare - Childers Road Retail Park
    Homebase - Parkway Retail Park
    B & Q - Tipperary Road
Woodies - Near Jetland Shopping Center
    Wickes - Tipperary Road

Is it timber etc that you are looking for or is it tool suppliers?

Both really I suppose - In the past I've priced some projects and between the cost of raw materials and time and effort involved you'd be mad not to pick up a finished product of a shelf etc. as it would cost you more in splinters and hard cash & wasted time to do it yourself!

I priced a timber garage door recently, €780, it was cheaper to buy a roller door cost€550, Mcmahons are the best for hard tiumber, you cant beat their selection

They also will cut and finish (plane) timber for you as well.

Ya health and safety issue's, there was a mouse found dead last year from the frost!!!!!!

If you want tooling and bits and pieces then Joe mc Kenna up by train station is ur best bet, specifically do tools for lathe's etc and there well priced with a range to suit everyones pocket, don't be shy asking for discount, you'll at least get 5%...

Hoorah for Mc Mahons for timber, ask for darren, he's sound and have trade cards aswell for discount....
