Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

cheap timber in Sligo

    I'm looking to buy some planks of timber in Sligo for a small diy project. Anyone have any experience of homebase in Sligo or woodies in Carrick on Shannon? Or any other suggestions.

    You would be far better off going to a sawmill. They will cut what you want and will be cheaper than the 2 outfits you mentioned. Also have a look on donedeal.

    Thanks for the replies,

    Ive had a look around donedeal, nothing really suitable although it is hard to write in timber and not get a load of results with lads trying to sell fire wood out of the back of trailers!

    Im trying to build a small size frame for a greenhouse that I`ll just put some polythene over. So Im not looking for high end timber. A few planks of plywood might even do.

    Well for a start, plywood is a sheet material, it doesn't come in planks.
    Get your measurements right and give your list to a builders supplier such as Brooks or Heitons.
    However the sawmill will be cheapest option.

    McHales saw mill is the place to head for its ideal for what you want it treated timber also and price wise would suit call over and they will sort you 3x2 or 4x2 would suit
