Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Play.com to cease retail operations

It seems that Play.com is to cease its retail business from March onwards. The site will remain active as a hub for indie retailers to connect with customers, but the site as we know it will come to an end. Before the likes Qwertee came along, Play were the best place to get nerd/gaming tshirts for a relatively good price.

Used them years ago, but my abiding memory of them over the past 3/4 years is always being shocked at how out of whack the prices were. Whenever I'd be looking around for a game or movie, they always seemed way more expensive than Amazon so I eventually stopped even going there to check.

Last thing I bought from them were two tshirts that were exclusive to Play.com a couple of years ago, Batman and Ironman "chest" tshirts. Looked great!

The Batman one isn't on the site any more, but does show in one of their "we have Batman stuff here" on-site banners.
