Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    He is a prime example of people who believe that the 20's IRA were innocent wee paddies and that the 70 and 80s bunch were a different species altogether.
    You just have to listen to the interviews of Dan Breen to know the mindset of the 20s ones.

    A necessary mindset I would say. A similar mindset to the counter insurgents sent in by the British.

    You're quite right in that it does take a certain kind of individual to prosecute a war/uprising etc. You've got to be ruthless and not a little heartless. A small bit psychotic wouldn't go astray either, although not too much.

    A normal average bloke would find it incredibly difficult to behave in such a manner.

    Slightly OT, but that is similar to a number of reports on what makes a soldier, and there was a text "On Killing" by Dave Grossman one how to alter the normal recruit's aversion to harming others.
