What are peoples thoughts on white helmets. Yes or no?
I wouldn't contemplate choosing any other colour!

Yes to white helmets, with leather straps.

This helmet colour thing is a new one on me. My best one is red and black so I fall foul.

What about cycling caps? Can they be any colour? Also, do you have to be of a certain vintage to wear them? Like a steel framed bike, I just don't think it's right for somebody of generation playstation to wear something like that.

We're already compromising by allowing buffalo to post in both ...

It should be pointed out that my only contributions so far have been to turn "road tax Joe" into "Jan & Klodi".

How the hell did you manage to get made a mod in the cycling forum?

Can't the two treads coexist . As for the helmets yellow and black all the way

Bribery, threats, ineptitude. You know, the usual.

I bought some nappy cream from Aldi for 1.5 euro, it feels and looks exactly like the chamois cream I paid wiggle 14 last week.

Make your own chamois cream. It's dead easy and cheap

@Astra: sell your carbon saddle. It will be cheaper in the long run.

    From the Beeb.

The mind boggles at what goes through (or doesn't go through) some people's heads!

Hertfordshire Police escort M1 cyclist off motorway....

A cyclist has been branded a "dummy" by police for riding on the hard shoulder of the M1 in Hertfordshire.

Motorway drivers reported a man riding on the southbound carriageway just before junction 9, near Redbourn, at about midday on Sunday, police said.

He was escorted off at the junction by officers who then tweeted a picture with the hashtag "don't be a dummy".

A spokeswoman confirmed the unnamed man was advised it was against the law but said no further action would be taken.

The cyclist, who said he was travelling to London, told road policing officers he would catch a train instead, she added.

This seems like a perfect topic for the party bus thread but I can't be arsed digging out a photo to accompany it so it might just as well go here…

The topic is the guy that models Assos cycling kit. He seems to bring out the ire in some men. Personally I've always been impressed by him and particularly the effort that must have gone into maintaining his physique over the years. I've always assumed that he isn't a (decent) racing cyclist though, that his training regime and diet probably aren't entirely compatible with bike racing at a decent level. But I stumbled across this post from 2011 this morning, from a discussion about Assos knee warmers which was threatening to turn into a bunch of men clucking disapprovingly about another man based on what he doesn't wear (men are such bitches really):
That Assos “jerk” just took a top 30th overall and first in his age group in Kona for this years Ironman. He isn’t a “pro” athlete since he has a full time job but he’s also the Ticino State Road Racing champ in Switzerland.
He’s super friendly and totally humble. I rode with him for a week in Marin a couple years ago and he hammers.

A quick online search didn't turn up anything to corroborate that claim though, it just turned up more (men) moaning about his state of undress in the Assos ads. Which just makes me want to believe it even more. G'wan the semi-naked Assos man!

Anyone who hasn't tried cros yet should give it a go over the winter!

I know there was talk of cross coming to Tipp, not sure if its going ahead. Is it in Cork or Munster this year? I have checked a few web sites and can't see anything.

Tonight I was most confused to be in a commuter race, when I was running, and the other guy had forgotten his bicycle too. Most uncouth.

A couple of Sundays ago I was toddling along the M50 northbound and when I got to the N4 merge a cyclist was coming down the slip road onto the M50 itself. He was either lost or a serious idiot as there's no hard shoulder on the bridge. He was dressed as if he was out for a spin too.
