Very good turnout for 3rd Trial. Quality field and excellent overall standard. In the process Joe secured his position on this years county team by winning his second trial of the season( Any player winning 2 Trials automatically qualifies for the County Team panel) This was a fantastic achievement given the quality players on show. Well done Joe and indeed well done to all the players who contributed to a great days darts.

Excellent attendance for 4th Trial despite several fixture clashes( Not our doing -- Always try and avoid clashes and wish other people did the same). Top class field nevertheless and top drawer darts. Overall standard still on the up-- Couple of 11 Darters again from Mick McGowan and John Burke and lots of ton plus averages in many other legs. Most games highly competitive with numerous going to a deciding leg. Again plenty of young emerging talent on display though the kudos on the day went to the more experienced players. Impressive displays from such as Dan Kelly, Ross O'Brien, Alan Richards, Joe Byrne, Brian Barlow, John Dunne, Anto McCracken and Shane O'Connor. Eventual winner was a tenacious Joe Byrne who overcame Brian Barlow( very impressive) in a high scoring and hard fought final. This was Joe's second Trial victory so he joins Joe Kelly as an automatic qualifier each having won two Trials. Well done the two Joes( No mean feat in the circumstances) Congratulations also to all the other players who helped provide such an entertaining days darts.

On behalf of myself and the Dublin Darts community I would like to wish Dan Kelly( A member the Dublin Team last year) all the best in the future. Dan, a brilliant darts talent, is emigrating to Australia this week. Good luck and take care.

Sharp drop in numbers -- Not sure why. Question of quality rather than quantity and consequently overall standard extremely high. Some top drawer games. Halfway stage and panel beginning to take shape. However there are still many players in contention and no doubt competition for places will intensify going forward. Impressive performances from players such as John Dunne, Aiden McCabe Mick McGowan, Anto McCracken, Alan O'Reilly, Dave O'Connor, Ross O'Brien and Shane O'Connor. Deserving winner was Alan O'Reilly who beat Dave O'Connor in a high scoring final and in the process greatly enhanced his qualification chances. Well done all

Attendance down again-- Disappointing. Once more a case of quality rather than quantity with some excellent games including an 11 darter from Shane O"Connor. Players of note included Anto McCracken, Dave O'Connor, Alan and David Richards, Jonny Ray, Killian McCormack, Graham Rooney and Shane O'Connor. Nice to see several young players make an impact. Eventual winner was Shane O'Connor who defeated Anto McCracken in a very competitive and high scoring final.

Chance of Venue. Unfortunately the Bridge Inn is no longer available. Will miss it -- Liked the ambiance of the Bridge -- Nice Venue. Trial No 7 will now be held in Sheriff Youth Club, Sheriff Street this Sunday 12th October 3pm. Still a lot to play for and many players still in contention for places on Dublin Team panel.

  • Registered Users Posts: 165 ✭✭btx170

Top class darts from a quality field. Panel beginning to take shape but still a lot of players in the running for places. Attendance could have been better but happy enough given the belated change of venue. Would like to thank Sheriff YC for facilitating us at such short notice. Nice venue and very central for all players. To get back to the Darts --Congratulations to young Robyn Byrne on her fantastic and unprecedented achievement of becoming an Irish World Darts Champion --not her last world title I would suggest. Also congratulations to Dave Concannon on winning the European title. Irish Darts is very much on the up. Congratulation to both players -- Well done.
Lots of top drawer darts also played today at 7th Dublin Trial.
Many quality performances from such as Joe Kelly, Anto McCracken, Alan Richards, John Seagrave, Jacko Barry ( Nice to see Jacko back in action and playing so well), Wesso Dunne, Brian Barlow and eventual impressive winner Mick McGowan who beat an unflappable Joe Kelly in a high scoring final. Well done all

What time can you head down and practice from? About 2? Thinking about heading along to this for the craic. Haven't played a proper tournament in months

Good turnout and some serious darts. Encouraging to see players persevering. Panel beginning to take shape but still a lot of competition for places and many players still in contention. Only two Trials left and obviously some players will be disappointed. However we are sending two teams to the Leinsters so there is still a lot to play for.
Overall standard at Trial No 8 was excellent and players to shine included Brian Barlow, Dave O'Connor, Alan Richards, Jacko Barry, Anto McCracken, Mick McGowan, Stephen McCarthy and Frank Kelly. Eventual winner was man in form Mick McGowan who edged out a consistent Anto McCracken in the final. Well done lads. Mick has now automatically qualified for the County panel as a two time Trial winner.

Numbers down but only to be expected as we near the end of the Trials and most places on panel are already settled. However a lot of players still in contention for the final few places. So it will go down to the wire and the last Trial next Sunday 3pm in Sheriff Street YC. Good days darts today and again quality field made it hard to advance. Top displays from such as John(Wesso) Dunne, Anto McCracken, Joe Byrne, Shane O'Connor, Dave O'Connor, Eamon Callery, Aiden McCabe and Brian Barlow. Winner on the day was Wesso Dunne who beat Joe Byrne in the final. On his way to an impressive victory Wesso took some big scalps and in the process guaranteed his place on the Dublin panel. Well done to Wesso and all the other players who have already qualified for the Dublin Team for the All-Irelands.

Last Trial again saw some excellent darts. Competition for the last few places on the panel was intense. Indeed some players may not have helped their cause by trying too hard. Players to shine included Wesso Dunne, Jimmy Dunne, Alan Mulcahy, Dave O'Connor, Joe Byrne, Shane O'Connor, Joe Kelly and Aiden Gallagher.

The following players have successfully negotiated the Trial process and deservedly earned their places on the Dublin County panel for the Inter-County Championships(All- Irelands) in Ennis in February 2015. Congratulation to all. Well done to Shane O'Connor who topped the rankings and to Anto McCracken who retains the captaincy. Congratulations also to Jacko Barry who will be added to the panel as a wildcard. Jacko is back playing top darts after a prolonged period of injury and will be a welcome addition to the squad.

Commiserations to those players who did not quite make the panel. Dublin Trials are very competitive and while Trials may not be everybody's preference at least they are fair and transparent and give all aspiring players an opportunity to compete. They also facilitate young players gaining experience at a higher level.
Finally I would like to thank all those players and supporters who attended the Trials.
