Perhaps I killed this thread with my appalling humour in the last post, but the thread has been quiet the last few days, and, while it's not strictly my turn, I hope the mods don't mind if I post up a picture as a bit of a revival! :)

That looks like Wall Street. Do any Meath towns have a wall street? :)

Nowhere near there, I'm afraid. :)

I can't make out what bitemybanger's is at all: it looks familiar, but it's a very small image!

Here's a clue for mine: it's somewhere that's just off the N52 road.

    Well it should be

It's the Tower of Loyd in Kells.

There are two still outstanding, by the way. :)

Its always a strange thing to see a lighthouse there.
I'm stumped by the two outstanding ones

Yeah, one of the lords of Headfort had a thing for the sea. seemingly you can see seven counties from the top of it.

Need more clues on the other ones. I mean the N52 goes all the way from Mullingar to Dundalk - might be easier hangman style

The N52 links Dundalk and Nenagh, actually. Of course, since this is the Meath Picture Game, only the part which passes through Meath is of interest to us. :)

Another clue for mine is that it's not a church, but a hall. A further clue is that, location-wise, it's not very far off the N52 sector between the Louth border and Carlanstown.

I think there was some Orange Lodge up that way?

yeah, i think it's 1-0 to Europerson - go on put us out of our misery, or at least PM me the answer if you don't want to tell the world just yet.

    All right so. :)

It's the Church of Ireland Hall in Syddan (the Church of Ireland name for what's approximately the Roman Catholic parish of Lobinstown). It was built in 1924, but it's disused now. It's notable for its pretty traceried cast-iron windows.

Is that St Ciarán's Well near Carnaross? It looks like it might be.

bitemybanger's image is still outstanding: I can't figure it out at all!

I did enlarge it, but it has so few pixels, it just turns into fuzziness! A clue might help... :)

St-Ciarans well it is. The aul biddy spitting into it gave it away.
For extra points, do you know what it's meant to cure?

    Warts, I think.

Is bitemybanger's part of Our Lady's Hospital in Navan?

Sorry no, it has many healing properties, but warts isn't one.

"Different areas of the well have different curative powers. Drinking the water, as above, is said to heal ailments of the throat. Lower down the stream, the water is said to cure problems with the feet and ankles. Elsewhere there is a stream for healing backs."

It's a good job, it isn't the other wayaround or you'd be drinking water people had put their feet in. The water though is gorgeous (and cold) as it comes from a spring.
