Setanta again. I e-mailed them last week enquiring about what their plans were and got a fairly vague response to say that they have the rights and will be expanding their coverage.

Premier Sports signed a 4 or 5 year deal for the UK which means ESPNA won't get it over there. Which leaves us in a tricky spot as they treat the UK and Ireland as one market usually and are unlikely to separate it for one sport. And they are unlikely to bother getting the rights for our tiny market. So unless Setanta get it then again, I doubt we'll have any. Setanta's coverage was appalling last season. Considering the amount of rubbish they fill their listings with and the amount of repeats they show, I found it very strange how little NHL they did show especially the re-airing of games from the night before Tgat were on in the early hours

We will have coverage from Setanta, but I'd be a bit sceptical as to whether it will be an improvement on last years.

NHL Gamecenter is an absolute gift for anyone who will watch more than 2-3 games a week, or for anyone who wants to follow their team regularly. I bought it last year and have no complaints whatsoever.

This is all dependent on there actually being a season to watch, of course...

Never looked into Gamecentre but I can stream it via the Boxee Box, Is it possible to view games after or is it just live games?

Afterwards also, and the picture quality is fantastic. Plus you access to the archives.

How much does it cost? Ive subscribed to MLB.tv for years now and I just took the plunge and got NFL Gamepass for the first time so I'll be killed if I try and sneak in another subscription

Is there a blackout policy as well?

No blackout policy for people in Ireland. Think it cost around $140, not 100% sure on that but it wasn't too much more/less expensive than that. iPad and iPhone apps. The one thing I wasn't happy with was that the PS3 app wasn't available over here.

Is that a monthly sub or does the whole 140 need to come out at once (Sorry I would check but the site doesnt give any details yet) What Im saying is can I cancel at any time?

I got so fed up of the Setanta coverage last year I just lost complete interest in the NHL! Might give this a go as my hockey blood is bubbling again this year!

I'm pretty sure you could pay monthly at the same price, but could be wrong. The season starts roughly the same time as my birthday so I treated myself. You get home and road broadcasts for most matches, though not all stations have coverage between periods.

Im extra tempted by this as I have the apple tv thingy which is great for MLB so I'd imagine it's the same for this. The devil on one shoulder is arguing with the angel on the other so we'll see who wins out

Same here, half tempted to get this! Im not paying UPC €15 so I can get a half arsed attempt at NHL on Setanta Sports 1! Maybe they might switch it to SI HD will wait and see. If they dont I might aswell treat myself too! I never used to watch the games until the next day anyway bar the odd Friday adn Saturday night games.

Is it possible so to watch the same team every day/week? ie I can pick which games I want to watch? or is it chosen for me?

Again sorry for the blatant stupid questions just finding it hard to find the answers online!
Going to stream this vai Boxee Box so that last question is the clincher for me!

You can watch any game, any time, live or non-live. If there are 10 games at the same time, you can watch any of them. In fact you can watch one with another one in-picture, or you can split four different games across your screen and chose which commentary you want.

If you follow a specific team (i.e. - myself with the Penguins) you can watch all their games live, with their own commentary team. Another small thing that annoys me about it somewhat is that once the game is over and you want to watch it, say the following day or whatever, the link that you have to click on has the score in it. So if you can't stay up late to watch it live you have to be very crafty to avoid ruining the surprise. But it is possible, just about. Hopefully they'll have copped on to that this year and sorted it.

Sorry for the poor picture quality, but this was what it looked like for me last season:

Might have some better photo's somewhere, will have a look later.

Quality, you may have twisted my arm. On the Boxee gamecentre there is an option to hide scores for highlights, hopefully they have the same for full games!

Just make 100% sure that it works with Boxee over here, as there could possibly be a similar issue that a lot of people had with accessing NHL Gamecenter through the PS3 last year. I'm not very familiar with Boxee but always better to ask the question before you hand over the cash.

And make sure you wait until you're sure we have a season to watch before you do anything!
