Hi to everybody.

I'm around here, as In September, hopefully, I'll start the college at AIT.

Just need a few tips and tricks about this, as I'll be new in town and my first experience in a Irish college. I'd like to mention that I'm a foreign guy living in Ireland and decided to start studing in Ireland, after a few years of work.

What I'm trying to know is:

1. Is Willow Park a safe area to live in? Because, as far as I know from a few friends, is not that safe as it looks from outside (main road ).
2. Is there any bus connection from Moate town to AIT? If yes... did anyone knows some timetables during the college period? I saw on a few old threads that B.E. and Flagline are operating in area, but i'm not that happy with their timetables, as some courses are starting at 8.30am.
3. How is the life in AIT for a newbie foreign guy? Did the teachers and other students "eats them at breakfast" or.. ?

Please, do apologise for any bad spellings or wrong words, as English is my 3rd language beside my mattern language.

City link run once a hour with the exception of some afternoon hours.
Dublin Airport - Galway timetable
They do student Rates & are cheeper.
May do 10 Journey ticket
Have wifi on all buses, Toilets on some
Yellow Bus colour

Bus Eireann only go on the 2 hour.
Can get from the station (22 minutes away walking) or they do service the gates of the college on some times. Only some drop off at college. (Only the first bus in the morning does)
May do 10 Journey ticket. More expensive.
No toilets, Most have Wifi

White and Red bus colour

Don't know much or anything about them. Goes through Moate though.

Still looking to know about the 1st and 3rd question. 3rd is not that important as I never heard about students eated by college Staff members.

1. Willow is safer at the front, but overall not great. I lived in the front row and my landlord was a total ass when I wanted to move out after three months. There also seems to be a lot of feral children in the area... It's closest to the college and bus stop, but that's not much when you're afraid to leave your bedroom window open or your door unlocked (I was, except I never had a key for the door either...)

3. Just do your best to be a nice person and don't dick around in classes and you'll be fine! If you feel a bit left out in terms of cliques/friend groups then try joining a club or society - if your classmates are interested in the same things it may be a better time to get to know them. There are a lot of different groups out there, and I'm still involved in a few despite graduating nearly 2 years ago.

Cypress Gardens is very close to the college too on the other side of the college and it is quiet and safe, I live there myself. I found my room on Daft.ie, not through the college accommodation lists. Willow is a bit rough though I know girls living near the front. I looked at several houses there when I was in first year and they all looked very grotty.
I don't know what it is like for foreign students but any lecturers I've had (science) were very approachable and fair. What country are you from?
