Walkman replacement

I have had a Sony NW-A805 Walkman for several years but I have always hated the Sonicstage software, it tends to be a hit and miss and I would love a simple drag and drop system, I have tried JSymphony and Media Go but they don't work with my Walkman, they seem to transfer files but when I disconnect I cannot find my music, the Albums are in the music folder on the device but do not appear in the Music Library, the only thing that works is the buggy Sonicstage

I am considering ditching the Walkman and going for a "straight" no nonsense mp3 player, I only need about 16 or 32GB what should I go for?

I got a Sansa Clip Zip a month or so ago & find it very good. Got it in an 8gb version & put a 32gb microsd card in it so loads of space. Found updating the firmware to the latest version a tad arsey but once I'd figured that out the device works very well. I transfer files via drag & drop from my pc or syncing in Windows Media Player, both methods have been easy & pretty much flawless. It's a very small, no frills (only plays music) player that sounds great, reads all types of files (including FLAC & audiobooks) & is very good value. Including the card & a silicone case for it total cost was around €90.

As much as I dislike Sony as a company, their mp3 players are solid and as an extra bonus they no longer require sonicstage - they're all drag&drop now, something Sony have been forced into

Poor reception. We've two of them in the house and both are the worst for picking up stations of any radio I've ever had. I wouldn't buy one for the radio.

For music though its one of the best sounding mp3 players I've had.

Yep whatever they're using in them for amplification is fantastic. great sound.

Strange on the radio I've never had any problems picking up stations, well in Dublin at least. Saying that, my clip is very old probably one of the first lot so maybe different parts.

anyway regardless of the radio OP which is a nice bonus I'd definitely consider a clip
