I have being trying to apply for the diploma in games design course on the Ballyfermot college website and it is telling me there is no more interview dates available, does this mean i have missed the window for this years applications or will another round of interviews come round later in the year?

Given that it's only February, I imagine interviews haven't even started yet. & actually looking on their site, it says you need to have applied by March 7th & the first round of interviews are the 12th, 13th & 15th, then the application process opens again later in March.

That's what i was thinking but spoke to a person in the college and it seems they have a lot of interest in the course and applications are now closed for the time being at least

Well maybe if there's an application form available online, fill it in anyway. That way if they begin accepting applications again you'll have yours ready & in straight away. I hope it opens again for you!

I don't know what it's like these days mate, but back when I was doing the regular Computer Animation HnD in Ballier, the Computer games design course wasn't a course that I could reccomend. What aspect of games development are you interested in specifically? The art, the design (gameplay) or the programming side of it? You really should specialise in one of them, general courses like this don't equip you for work in this extremely competitive industry.

When was this?
This course came highly recommended to me by several people in the industry.
Some even claiming it's the best of it's kind in the country.

Personally I like that it has a more rounded focus in general design rather than specializing in programming or any other specific skill. I honestly haven't decided which aspect I prefer yet.
Of course if you WANT to specialize then it would not be the correct choice, but at this stage of the game (for me) a more generalized approach is what I need.

(I am referring to the Higher National Diploma In Computer Games Design NOT the Computer Games And Interactive Entertainment Development which I heard is quite basic.)
