Some great memories there guys, I recall a few favourites from the pre-video/utube era which I'm sure some old heads will remember:

Ken Goodall from the halfway line against the great Welsh team in 1970 when Ireland scored 14 & Wales nil

Mike Gibson at Twickenham in the early sixties

Kevin Flynn's last minute winner at Twickenham in 1972

Yes. Gibson tearing England apart from out half as an 18 year old. He might get a look in as a 28 year old these days....
..and Goodall's try against the Australians. What a player he was.

Flynn's try was the first scored by an Irish centre for about 4 years. It was a classic centre break. I can still see it clearly in my mind.

not sure how to embed videos, but this one is long so its probably worth switching to Youtube anyway to watch on fullscreen and up the quality.

However it's sure to put a smile on your face

This one from Toulouse vs Leinster. Absolute frenetic stuff leading up to some brilliant play and a top drawer finish from Denis Hickey.

Here's a sneaky bit of opportunism from Gibson against Australia in 1967.

I dont know if it was because of the match itself but this shane Horgan try was amazing for me.

That is an absolutely stellar try which Heaslip finished superbly.

The best game we ever played under Kidney.

Thanks for that, a couple of oddities.

That is the only rugby match that, if asked, I could name the date of without having to think for a split second, its etched upon my grey matter - 14th March 1970 when the cream of Welsh rugby failed to trouble the scoreboard.

Other ancients may remember a photo of the Alan Duggan try printed with Ned's match report in the Irish Times. It was taken from slightly back along the touchline and captured Duggan's dive, perfectly horizontal in the pic and beyond that a man of mature years caught in his jump both feet off the ground, arms spread, clutching his hat, fully ecstatic.

A perfect day for me as a sixteen year old, never to be forgotten.

Heaslip needs to get fat again. I refuse to believe that it was a coincidence that he was at his peak when he had a belly.

He's faster now though. Looks like he was running through custard to finish that try.

Still though...25 metres out and he made it

It was a brilliant try tbf, all the tries we scored in that game were actually but that was the best of them.
