I see that the EPA have set standards for septic tanks:
"Septic tanks installed on or after 1 June 1992 must comply with Part H of the National Building Regulations."
Bearing this in mind and the resistration of septic tanks for spot checks by the local authority, will septic tanks from the 1970s have a different category of requirements to pass than modern ones when it comes to the spot checks?
Under the new regulations the septic tank has to be 20+ metres from the house. Back in the 1970s 15 metres was enough. Will a one only 15 metres away fail the test now? Because if it does it would mean redoing the entire waste water system on the other side of our house as there isn't a 20 metre gap on the side it's currently at.
