Front 2 teeth missing - Dental Implant options

Hi all,

I've lost my front two teeth while playing football, Im 20 and Dont smoke and the rest of my teeth are in good condition.

My dentist has advised the best option is to get dental implants which will set me back about 5000 according to him. I've been searching Google all week and the other option i can see is going to Budapest which is working out about 1800 for the same procedure and then flights & hotel on top of that.

has anyone got any suggestions or advice? I've to go back on the 13th August to get a plate inserted for the time being until i decided on whether to go ahead with the dental implants or not.

Any advice is welcome,
Cheers,
Micheal

Sorry to hear op.
Your options:
A gap- not good
A denture- ok as a temporary but you won't like it...
A bridge, can look good but not as good as implants. The bridge is supported by the adjacent teeth, these need some preparation to accommodate the bridge so this is not ideal if the teeth are sound at present...
Implants- in a trauma case such as yours, you will likely need 2 implants placed with bone grafting to bulk the area and improve the aesthetics and longevity of the implants. Following a period of healing, the implants are uncovered and the crowns made and placed on top.

Implants are expensive, probably just shy of 5000 for your job in Ireland. It is only after going through the treatment (correctly) that you see where the money goes, long surgical visits, expensive implants bone and membrane, suture removals, check ups, multiple crown impressions, try ins and fittings and checks....
Sure it can be done cheaper, but in order to do that, the clinic must cut on the quality of the materials or labwork, the duration or number of visits... Etc
This job should last a long time if done right but is a nightmare if corners are cut.

Good luck,
Os

You have only one chance to do implants right OP. Dental tourism is not a good idea and you can research that for yourself, but your brain god gave you will have told you that already. Implants are complex treatment needing a lot of planning and visits for optimal long term results. Expect to either live with a denture or pay to do the job properly. Quality dental work is necessarily expensive, to it right or don't do it at all. PM me for recommendations.

I lost three front teeth on the top row and one on the bottom row and i also broke two other teeth when i crashed my bike coming down a hill back in April.
I am currently wearing dentures, and i cant stand them. I would love to get implants.
I also have a few questions.

Is there any specialists around Waterford?
I was told 3 grand per implant, is this really true?

Thanks

Jay

Can be depends on the dentist/specialist and if there is a need for bone grafting which in most trauma cases there is, it depends really.

I lost my front one when I ran into the back of an opposite players head when I was 15 or so. I had a denture until I got my implant finished last month. I'm 28 now.

Dentures are horrible, I love having an implant.

Was it expensive? yes

Was it painful? no

Was it worth it? yes

Would I recommend it? yes

If you have the cash, get them. If not, save until you have it, then get them.

A denture is prob going to cost you €300 or more anyway. Though you'll most likely have to get one of these anyway, while you await the implant.

Also, do a lot of research on what method will be used....and don't get it done abroad. I had about 5-6 visits to the dentist while getting mine done, I have another next week, just to check up on it. My implant was placed 8 months before the crown was put on. I had a fitting / colour matching session for the crown, and then waited 5 weeks to get it back. How would you get that service with a once off visit to Hungary / Bulgaria / Poland etc?

Thanks again for advice and replies.

I am definitely getting it done at home, its a serious procedure and i have only one mouth, no disrespect to foreign dentists.

I am looking at one website for a clinic in Dublin and they do an implant bridge which is for three or more teeth @ 1500 quid per unit.
Does this mean that the three teeth go in as one unit/implant and costs 1500 or does it mean there is three separate implants and cost 1500 each?

3 units or teeth at 1500 a unit that's 4500 in total, thats 2 implants with three teeth on them, it's the normal thing to do.

If you want an alpha bio impant ( for which spare part are difficult to source, I have tried) and easterneuropian cheap as possible fast as possible lab work then you certainly get it as cheap as you want.some things however should not be tendered to the lowest bidder, a feck up with an Implant will be very hard if not impossible to fix. I would be cautious of recommending places you have not been or had treatment, you know only the price and nothing else. When it comes to medical procedures google is not your friend, certainly if all your interested is price over value.

there offering a lifetime warranty with them though? its not implants in one day , you'd get the implants and return 3 to 6 months later for the rest.

i dont think because there cheap , it necessarily means its going to be a bad job. You could pay the usual 2-3k for an implant and that could be just as bad or just as good.
