I think I may have +1'd a separate forum in a separate thread but on second thoughts I think a rename of the MH/Camper Vans forum to include Caravans would be the best option.

An awful lot of the equipment is shared between both types, i.e. boilers, water systems, fittings etc and if the one forum covered Campers and Caravans then it would cut down on duplication of questions and answers etc.

I also think the current category should be renamed to include Caravans. As someone mentions above, a lot of the equipment is indeed the same, and the experiences can be shared amongst us all.

There are a few threads in the current section which discuss the more technical aspects of a motor vehicle (engine, paintwork, ....). Maybe these should move to a separate section or encouraged towards the "Motors" section of boards.ie.

Finally, there are also quite a few discussions about actual destinations. Maybe these should be gathered in another specific section (organised by counties/geographical regions).

I was over in the campers and motor homes forum just now browsing for caravan tips and advice and found a link to here. I think a forum name change to include caravans is probably the easier option.

If a Caravan forum was to be created I think the statics should be bundled in there.

I would go one further and suggest a caravan forum with space for mobile homes, tents and all other things CAMPING related.

One could even go so far as to call it the .....camping forum

If push came to shove, the existing motorhomes forum could be moved from motors and made a sub section of the new camping category (I don't know if that is technically possible though)

Regardless of whether the existing forum is renamed, or a new forum is created I think we all pretty much agree that caravans should be catered for....
