Information on Radiography in UCD?
Hi all I'm just wondering does anyone have experience of radiography in UCD and as being a radiographer in hospital. I'm quite interested in it but it's hard to get much information on it.

1)UCD course compared with Scottish universities is academically focused while in Scotland for example they make it a more hands on practical experience. Experiences is also vital for further placement to get a job and to do the job experience is vital. I have spoken to the senior manager of the radiography dept in Midlands they prefer UK graduates as they have more experience and know what they are doing right away and are more motivated overall. 2)Employment is not good in this area at present. Hours are being cut, wages, staff. No overtime if you want it.Full time employment is little to know at present. But its recognised in Australia and UK but not USA. Do not let this put you off as in 4 years the situation will be different. 3)Communication is most important you have to be so clear eg if a patient is pregnant and you didn't ask...need i explain Other qualities include teamwork and many more. The job is very safe, secure and rewarding once employed. The points are way to high for the course in UCD in my opinion as the job does not require a super leaving cert, but it is supply and demand. As there is one course in the republic.. I know all this as i did work experience (5days) and went to Scotland for uni interview got it but my grade in 1 subject let me down for my conditional offer. To apply to England,Wales,Scot via UCAS. You need work exp write Personal Statement and to do interview. Last edited by declan_man; 01-09-2012 at 19:42. |

grand 21000-31000 first 4-5 years. it doesn't go much higher than 55000 unless you take a senior role which is waiting for others to retire...might be waiting 15 years i hear. The money isnt amazing but the work environment is nice.
