I'm starting college in St.Pats in September..The idea of cold accommodation is really putting me off the student village though..Is there anywhere else I could go or should I go for the student village for a while then move out?
If anyone could advise me I'd be very grateful!

My landlord was Brendan fairly sound guy if you stay on his right side hes usually around more and a bit more helpful than Vincent I never saw Vincent around the place also Brendan houses are 4 beds some of Vincent are 8 bed house so lots of people in the house together.
Its really up to you who you want to choose one thing about Brendan is that he keeps the colleges together and has either all guy , all girl or 2 boys 2 girl houses so you aint going to be a girl lobbed in with 3 fellas or 3 girls :/ One thing id highly recommend is that you photograph the houses before ye move in like i mean any scratches or dents or missing stuff. like when i moved in there was a hole in my wall where someone had pushed the door hard and the handle went through the plasterboard. Its just so ye wont get caught out on deposits when there giving em back good luck lads enjoy yere time up in the village Who knows ye mite even have my old room haha

Yeah there is like im my old house ( house 17
) There was a en-suite downstairs a pain tho when your having house party's cause everyone wants to use it and ya cant lock your door , then 2 singles upstairs n a huge double room but with a single bed ( mine haha) I payed the same as the guys with the single rooms tho but the en-suite paid more all the beds are singles tho apart from house 14 there's a upstairs room there that has a double bed !

I was a first year last year in the Student Village. My advice? Stay the hell away if you can help it.
It's manageable but as other people here have said, ****'s cold as hell. The first day I moved in the place was so dirty it wasn't even funny, we spent hours cleaning the place. But that's not the worst thing. You better be a real heavy sleeper because the noise in the village at night is a joke. I know college is for having the craic and all but you'd swear the students living there didn't attend college at all with the amount of "parties" going on. I did survive in the end though so if you see yourself as hardy and up for a laugh, go for it. And especially if you're a first year it's like a rite of initiation But I'm steering clear this yearAll the same, see you in a few weeks newcomers
