A good turntable I can connect my old speakers to

Hi, I'm looking to finally get back to playing vinyl and wanted to buy a turntable. I have an old Sony hi fi from about 1999 that has speakers, with just the usual connections.

Is there a turntable (not too pricey) that has a preamp built into it, so I can just connect these old speakers straight in? They were decent enough speakers.

Thanks.

I doubt it , standalone turntables need an amp. Any pre-amp built into a turntable is likely to be a phono pre-amp , which takes the signal off the record , applies RIAA equalisation and correction and makes the signal line level , line level signals will not drive speakers , it still has to go through an amp.

Your old Hi fi had an amp built into it.
In addition , all in one units like that very often have speakers with odd nominal impedance values , Sony for instance are notorious for having all in one speaker impedances of 3 ohms.

If that is the case then separate amps cannot use those speakers , attaching those speakers to another amp will overdrive and possibly damage it.
