I have never done running as a sport before but I am very interested .
for a begginer how long should it take me to jog 5 kilometers/3.1 miles?
and how long would it take you on average to run this?

Best thing to do is find yourself a training plan, find yourself a race, train for it and do it. Compare your time with others in the same race (particularly in your gender/age group). Find another race and a more advanced training plan. Train more. Get faster. Repeat. Best of luck!

+1 to what Krusty has said.
To get an idea of what times people are running, find a 5k you are interested in running and then google the 2011 results. Here is a link to the Cork BHAA results page which has a few 5k races in it just to give you an idea of the spread of times from first to last http://www.corkbhaa.com/pages/results.html |
