As a long time Spidey fan I felt this film ticked all the right boxes, couple of cheesey moments and it wasn't perfect but I loved it.

Marc Webb did a terrific job of handling the chemistry between Peter Parker and those around him. Full of emotion and full of the heart which I felt Tobey Maguire was never really able to bring to the table. Garfield was the Spiderman I'd hoped for, an outcast yes, but he was never as nerdy and whiney in the comics as in the Raimi versions. Garfield was far more suited to the wise cracking Peter/Spidey.

Emma Stone was great in it.. I thought Leary and Martin Sheen were perfect. I wasn't overly gone on Rhys Ifans but I still felt he did a good job.

Lots of people had issues with the score and at times it just didn't suit but for the majority I thought it was fine, not as good as I was hoping for however.

I think this film was always going to be the most difficult of the.... trilogy?(I assume). But I really feel there's so much more to be brought to the table now the origin story was covered. I was delighted with this film to be honest and 2-3 of the more emotional scenes had me hook line and sinker. My biggest disappointment was leaving the cinema and realising I had to wait probably another 2-3 years for the next one!

Yes some the acting was good the chemistry was there and some the emotional scenes were quite gripping suprisingly for a film of this nature.

But what let it down for me was the storyline felt like a carbon copy from the Tobey Maguire version now I know theres only so much of a spin you can put on its origins, but they could have at least changed the villain and went a diff way from that part onwards which was my main gripe with it, also for me the humour when attempted was very poor and drew very few laughs in the cinema so i wasnt alone.

Also eradicate the cheesyness like were they first kiss was as cringeworthy a scene ive seen in a cinema.
They did thats The Lizard, The Green Goblin is a different character, he'll come into it later and is Norman Osborn, who they keep referring to in the Oscorp scenes when Rhys Ifans is in the lab.

Did most people stay for the credits?

About half way through they showed Spoiler: a guy talking to Curt Connors in prison. Who was that? My friend thought Norman Osborne but I thought he was too old. The vulture maybe? Or who was the crime boss guy from the cartoons that wanted to be young forever?

Anyways overall I thought it was an okay movie. Really what the other Spiderman movies should have been. Didn't remind me of power rangers so a definite improvement.

Massive spoilers in the below, but it may explain why I though the pacing in the second half was woeful.

Was the untold story cut from Spider-man?

Great post, very interesting read. Seems like there was a lot cut from the film to keep the mystery for a sequel.

Would anyone know what time this is on in screen 17 in Cineworld Dublin? Want to see it in the best available screen, but won't get to check when it's on till later.

In answer to your spoiler, Spoiler: I took the thing he was talking to as the evil side of Connors. You know how he had been arguing with himself throughout the film, so I thought this might jave been a characterisation of how he saw his evilness. I kinda thought that it could maybe mean that the antidote didn't fully work and that The Lizard would be back in the next film. I know next to nothing about Spiderman though so the above is probably totally wrong :p

@Klith - Aren't films usually shown in screen 17 when they've been out a while? Just what I've noticed from seeing ones in there before, usually the films have been out for a few weeks, or are smaller movies. Maybe ring Cineworkd and ask?

Saw this today and absolutely loved it. Garfield is perfect as Spidey, he seems so natural in the role and he looks the part.

They absolutely nailed the quick movements and action sequences IMO. Spider-man should look agile and acrobatic and it's so well done in this movie. I saw it in 3D and thought it looked great. I love the new costume as well.

I thought Emma Stone and Rys Ifrans were good. Funnily I didn't think much of Martin Sheen in it, didn't really seem into it to me. I actually think the guy who was the uncle in the 2002 version was better.

Overall though, I thought it was great. I loved Spider-Man as a kid and this movie totally outdid my expectations.

That said, I didn't think it took away from it too much but there are some cool ideas in there!
