Help identifing old rare piece

I have this old piece of pottery i got from my mother who said hold onto it as she had it valued years ago and i am wondering if anyone knows anything..i was thinking of taking it to a valuer but just though i would try here first..any ideas???? appreciated

Sort of creepy. I'm assuming it's a toby jug or something?
The crack brings value down straight away, no matter what it is.

Can you post up a pic of the back/top of it so we can have a better idea of its function?

To my mind it looks like some sort of cookie jar..

The problem as has been said is the damage,its taken quite a clout and it looks like its been repaired on the lefthand side too.

old creepy man

yep, its creepy alright..one of those things that is almost like from a movie..thats why we hide it in a box in the attic...
it has a crack yes..but never repaired..crack runs through it as u see,fine crack.... missing top of head,ya id love to even kow what that looked like...this thing is old,im at least sayin over a hundred years and judging from creepyness,, its origins are interesting..
there nothing of stamp or origin on it...
i can post a pic of back in a day or two..hes back in attic...

If it had a lid then its almost certainly a biscuit barrell or cookie jar...Creepy cookie jars were quite common,a favourite theme being clowns or ghosts...withoout the lid and with the damage its pretty much worthless i'm afraid.

Would be inclined to agree with Degsy, if it came with its lid there would be some hope, prob next to impossible to find a replacement
