I started writing a fictional sci-fi book years ago called "The prophecy of Atlantis" I only did about 6 chapters before i realised it sounded like i was on drugs when i wrote it.
Anyway in my research i found that Plato wrote about it thousands of years ago and that is either the first recorded mention of it or at least one of them.
There are other theories, everything from a Planet in the solar system that dissapeared to Ireland being Atlantis

Actually check it out on wiki, just looked and it mentions plato's account,

It's a very interesting topic-I've seen many television shows about it, and always meant to read a book about it.I think a trip to the library may be in order.
Can anybody advise any books to read, something for beginners?

Atlantis is now 100% believed by most historicans to have been the civilization of Thera (now the island of Santorini) in the Mediterranean Ocean south of the coast of Greece.

The description of the civilization matches that of Atlantis. Believed to be founded by the gaint Atlas, buildings of many coloured stones, worship of the bull and the fact that like the legend of Atlantis, Thera was destroyed by a volcano and tidal wave.

Thera was destroyed by these events in about 1400 BC.

Wasnt there a claim that it was a massive Island in the Atlantic ocean that got swallowed up by the earth, thus a flood? Then its survivors went to Egypt where all the ancient knowledge was kept. It often seems you have to sift through so much crap just to get to a shred of sense.

Yes but it depends how you translate ancient Greek. Plato gives the distance from Greece and the time period. If you translate it one way (incorrectly) it gives the distance as being way out in the Atlantic. If correctly it is exactly were Santorini is located. Also Plato never said anything about any survivors.

Try Watching this documentary called Ancient Aliens, specially the parts that speak about Atlantis, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKYvj-2kCNg.

I feel it might be a little off topic but it will give you a good idea to what look for.

Historians now also link the eruption at Thera with God parting Red Sea in the Bible. The Red Sea is actually a mistranslation and it should be The Sea of Reeds which is a marshy coastal area in northern Eygpt on the Mediterranean. The parting of the sea would have actually been the "pull back" effect of a massive tsunami before the tidal wave arrived to wipe out Pharoah's army.

Would you believe I read that somewhere in the 1990s. Infact some mention that the Plagues could have been set off by a huge volcanic eruption also.

Remember the Isrealites following a pillar of smoke during the day and pillar of fire at night? Could be a volcano.

So much is said and written about Atlantis but are there are no ruins? not even disputed ones. I wonder does anyone know if any ruins have been discovered deep enough under sea to be possible?

Interesting you seem to be saying that all ancient, and destroyed, cities/communities were Atlantis.

I think its going to turn out to be the Santorini islands near Greece/Turkey but I would love to find out its more exotic than that!

This is something Ive researched for many years...and which I can give abundance proof for...

Atlantis was an extremely high tech civilization (far more advanced than we are today) that used a worlwide system of pyramidal energy for power - which is why theres pyramids across the planet. In fact theres over 50,000 recorded pyramids. Check out the pyramid in Bosnia - its even greater than the Great Pyramid of Giza. Theres pyramids in China, Mongolia, the Amazon...literally anywhere you can think of.

across the world theres hundreds if not thousands of underwater cities. These civilizations suffered a great catastrophe. This is evidenced by the abrupt manner in which their building efforts were disrupted. For example look at the stone of the pregnant woman in Baalbek. This megalith is over 1,000 tonnes (far heavier than what we can move today) however its left sticking out of the quarry as if there was a major catastrophe. Theres megaliths across the globe in ver similar circumstances.

This proves the catastrophe was both global in its destruction - but also that these great ancient builders all shared the same amazing technology.

However these ancients were also corrupting and distorting the DNA of man and animal. They were highly advanced but also highly immoral.

The Biblical account of the flood is 100% accurate. And after the flood Noah, his 3 sons and 3 wives gave rise to all the post flood nations. In fact all the tables of nations can be traced to their names.

The Semites (arabs) came from Shem (Shemite/Semite). theres a really good lecture on youtube you can watch which shows how every nation on the planet got their names from the descendants of Noah.

Also if you want to know how pyramidal energy works theres some good stuff on youtube also.
